If you are missing most of the teeth in your upper or lower jaw, or the teeth you have left in that jaw can’t be saved, a teeth-in-a-day plan replaces the whole arch on dental implants. At Tilbury Dental Care, 1 Jeffrey St W, our dentists offer teeth in a day with two kinds of final teeth: a fixed arch that stays in, or a removable arch that clips onto the implants. Call (519) 682-1263 to book an assessment.

What “teeth in a day” means

The name comes from the placement visit. A small group of implants is set into the jaw to hold a complete arch, and when the exam and plan allow it, a provisional set of teeth is attached at that visit so you are not without teeth while you heal. The provisional teeth are not the finished result. The jawbone needs time to bond with the implants before your final arch is made, and your dentist will explain what that looks like for your own mouth.

Fixed or removable: choosing your final teeth

Fixed full arch. The new teeth are secured to the implants and only your dentist takes them off. You brush and clean around and under them every day and come in for regular checks, much as you would look after natural teeth.

Removable full arch. The new teeth snap onto attachments on the implants. You lift them out at home to clean them and the implants underneath, then click them back in. Our implant dentures page covers this design in more depth.

Which one fits you depends on how much bone you have, your bite, how you feel about taking teeth out, and which one you will find easier to keep clean. You decide after the exam, once the choices for your mouth are clear.

Who may be a good fit

  • Adults missing most or all of the teeth in one or both jaws
  • People who have been told the remaining teeth in an arch are failing
  • Denture wearers who are tired of a loose or rocking denture

Your health history, gum health, smoking and the amount of jawbone all affect whether a full arch on implants will work. An exam with X-rays and any other imaging your dentist recommends is the only way to know.

From first visit to final teeth

  1. Assessment: an exam, X-rays, a review of your health history and a conversation about what you want from treatment.
  2. Planning: implant positions are mapped, any teeth that can’t be kept are identified, and you choose fixed or removable final teeth.
  3. Placement visit: failing teeth are removed if needed, the implants go in, and provisional teeth are fitted when the plan allows.
  4. Healing: follow-up visits while the implants settle, with eating and cleaning instructions from your dentist.
  5. Final arch: your fixed or removable teeth are made and fitted, followed by regular maintenance visits.

How teeth in a day differs from our other tooth replacement pages

For one missing tooth or a short gap, a single implant topped with a crown, or an implant-supported bridge, is usually the simpler route; our dental implants page explains it. If you already know you want a denture that is held in place by implants, our implant dentures page goes further into that option. Teeth in a day is for replacing a whole arch at once. When some teeth in a mouth can be kept, they may be repaired with crowns while the rest of the arch is replaced, and your dentist will talk through that mix with you.

Teeth in a day: common questions

Does Tilbury Dental Care offer teeth in a day?

Yes. Our dentists offer teeth in a day with fixed or removable final teeth, depending on what suits the patient. An assessment comes first to confirm the approach suits you.

Will I have teeth when I leave the placement visit?

That is the goal of the approach. Whether a provisional arch can go in at that visit depends on your bone and how the implants seat, and your dentist confirms it with you during planning.

Are the first teeth my final teeth?

No. The first arch is a provisional one worn during healing. Your fixed or removable final teeth are made once the implants have bonded with the bone.

I wear a full denture now. Can I switch?

Often, yes. An assessment shows whether implants can hold a fixed or removable arch in place of your current denture.

How do I clean full-arch teeth?

A fixed arch is cleaned in place every day, including underneath. A removable arch comes out for cleaning, and the implants are brushed while it is out. Both need regular checks with us.

Are your dentists specialists?

No. Our dentists are general dentists, and we talk through a referral when that would serve you better.
